One of the key trends of today's economy is digitalization of all aspects of our life accompanied by rapid productivity growth. This leads to dramatic changes of the mode of production. We explore benefits and challenges of such changes and show that due to digitalization and, especially possible invention of general artificial intelligence technologies, the humanity is highly likely to globally face severe problems such as mass unemployment, sky-rocketing inequality, and growing poverty. As the mode of production is being changed, there is strong need in changing our production relations since both our out-of-dated techniques of production management and economic policy tools do not work properly anymore. We explore possible implications of these changes for economic policy and propose new tools for solving the problems we are going to face.
